Excel: Remove all Mailto hyperlinks for email addresses at once

Excel: Remove all Mailto hyperlinks for email addresses at once

In a previous tip you explained how to prevent email address in Excel turning into clickable mailto hyperlinks which is close to an issue I’m currently facing.

In my current case, I’ve received an Excel sheet full of email addresses that are clickable mailto links which is highly annoying as sooner or later I’ll accidentally click on one.

Is there any way to bulk remove or disable these clickable email addresses and turn them into regular text instead?

Excel: Stop turning email addresses into clickable Mailto links

Excel: Stop turning email addresses into clickable Mailto links

I’m working with Excel sheets that contain a lot of email addresses as well.

When updating a field, it turns the email address in a clickable “mailto” link and when I’m not careful when clicking, it opens up a new email in Outlook.

As I have no intention to email anyone directly from these lists, but do work a lot with these sheets, this is getting annoying quite fast.

Is there any way to disable this behavior in Excel?

Categorize Sent Items while composing a message

Categorize Sent Items while composing a message

I know how to Categorize a message that I have received or once I have sent it; There is a big Categorize button for that on the Ribbon.

However, when I compose a message, this command is not available on the Ribbon. It is available when creating a new Appointment, Meeting or Contact.

Why is this button not available and how can I Categorize a message before sending it?

Remove my name from the top header when printing an email as a delegate

Remove my name from the top header when printing an email as a delegate

Upon printing an email from Outlook, my name is printed in large bold letters at the top of the message.

While this is OK for my own messages, sadly Outlook also prints my name when I print a message from my manager’s mailbox for which I am a delegate.

Is there a way to print it with the name of my manager instead or to remove the name altogether?

Outlook.com account with a personal address or custom domain can’t be added to Outlook

Outlook.com account with a personal address or custom domain can’t be added to Outlook

I’m using Outlook.com without an @outlook.com address but an address from my own domain. Unfortunately, I can’t seem to configure that account in Outlook.

I also have an @gmail.com address connected to my Outlook.com account but that fails too.

I can configure it manually as an IMAP account but not as an Exchange account which I need to sync my Contacts and Calendar as well.

How can I configure my Outlook.com account in Outlook?

Prevent changing a Task’s Due Date when changing the Start Date

Prevent changing a Task’s Due Date when changing the Start Date

I'm an avid Tasks user in Outlook and I usually initially build my Task List by only assigning a Due Date. Then at a later stage I go back to review all open tasks and assign Start Dates to the Tasks.

Here is where things go wrong; When I assign a Start Date, it also modifies the Due Date which I absolutely do not want.

How can I tell Outlook to maintain the Due Date when modifying the Start Date?

Find or Select a folder by typing its name

Find or Select a folder by typing its name

I've got quite a large list of folders (with names of customers) in which I sort my emails. Usually, to find a folder to which I want to move an email to, I need to scroll in the Navigation Pane and look for it.

As I already know the name of the folder, is there an easier way to select it? Perhaps similar to selecting a file or folder in Explorer by typing its name?

Use RE: and FW: instead of localized subject prefix

Use RE: and FW: instead of localized subject prefix

We are an international company with international clients but in various countries we offer localized versions of Office and Outlook to our employees.

A downside of this is that when replying or forwarding, Outlook also adds localized prefixes to the subjects such as "AW" and "WG" (for the German version) which causes confusion with the recipient as they may not be German themselves.

Is there a way to force Outlook to always use the more standard English "RE" and FW" prefixes?

Automatically turn specific words into hyperlinks

Automatically turn specific words into hyperlinks

In my emails, I often need to refer to documentation and products on the Internet for which I also supply the URL within the message.

For readability, I turn these words into clickable hyperlinks.

Unfortunately, this is quite a bit of work and the documentation and product links are the same ones I use over and over.

Would it be possible to automatically turn these key words into hyperlinks pointing to the correct URL?
