Change default location for pst and ost files

I'd like to keep all my Outlook data in a different folder than Outlook uses by default. I therefore have moved the pst-file that Outlook automatically created to my custom folder.

I also have some additional pst-files in that folder which I occasionally use (and disconnect afterwards). However, Outlook keeps going to the default location when trying to create or add a pst-file.

Is there any way I can change the default to my own location?

Change the default Calendar folder

When I switch to the Calendar Navigation (CTRL+2), I see multiple Calendars listed for the various accounts that I have.

However, new meeting requests which I receive do not always get added to the Calendar of that account.

For instance, meeting requests I receive for my personal POP3 account get added the Calendar folder of my Exchange account from work.

How can I set the default Calendar to be the one of my POP3 Calendar?

Accidentally moved a folder and cannot find it

I've accidentally moved a folder when I tried to select a different folder. I'm now not able to find back the folder anymore to move it back where it belongs. I've got a lot of folders so going through each and every one of them isn't really an option.

Is there a way in Outlook to search for a folder name?

Which Outlook add-ins do I really need?

I checked the list of add-ins that I have installed for Outlook and I’m a bit surprised how many I have installed.

I thought I was just using “plain vanilla” Outlook without add-ins but apparently Outlook already comes with some pre-installed and some others were added by installing other applications.

I now try to “weed out” the additional add-ins hoping that it will improve my Outlook startup time as it is fast when launching Outlook in Safe Mode.

Which add-ins do I really need and which are safe to disable?

Account Setup fails for Outlook.com accounts

When I try to add my Outlook.com account to Outlook via the Auto Account Setup wizard, I get several additional password prompts and finally the following error:

An encrypted connection to your mail server is not available.
Click Next to attempt using an unencrypted connection.

That process eventually also fails and I'm asked to verify my email address (which is correct) or set it up manually.

How do I do that and can't Outlook really configure itself with Outlook.com?

Now that I'm using Outlook 2010, I've noticed that I have 2 contacts folders by default; Contacts and Suggested Contacts.
The result is that my contacts are now split over 2 folders as well with some being duplicates and containing different information in the different folders.

How can I get my contact management back to a single folder?

Saving and using pst-files on an external USB-drive

I have an Outlook archive (pst-file) stored on an external USB-drive which I carry with me so I can use it from both my main PC and my laptop.

Somebody told me that connecting to pst-files stored on a network share isn't supported and that this would also apply to USB-drives which got me wondering;

Is using my pst-file from an external USB-drive supported?

Navigation Pane is on the left instead of bottom of the Folder List

After an update of Office, Outlook now displays the navigation buttons for Mail, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, etc… on the left side next to the Folder List.

These Navigation buttons used to be displayed within the Folder List at the bottom.

Where is the option to move the Navigation buttons back to their original location?
