Cannot back-up large pst-files

When I'm backing up my pst-file I get an error that tells me that there isn't enough room on the external drive to back up the file.

This cannot be correct; the file is listed as being only about 4.2 GB, and the external drive I'm trying to back it up to has over 31 GB of free space!

Any clue as to what's going on here?

Backup and Restore Outlook.com mailbox data

I used to have a POP3 account for which I always had to backup the pst-file and I had no issues with restoring it when I needed it.

Now that I have switched to Outlook.com, I no longer have a pst-file but an ost-file.

I tried opening the ost-file, to test whether I could restore it, but Outlook doesn’t let me and expects a pst-file.

Synchronizing email signatures between computers

I’m using Outlook on multiple computers and even though my emails sync beautifully between all my devices, my email Signatures do not.

While I could back them up and restore them manually onto another computer after each change, surely in the age of Cloud Based Computing there must be a better approach for this.

Blocking spam emails with hidden or missing From address

Recently, I’m getting more an more spam in my Inbox with no email address.

The From field only shows a name but no email address. Also, when I hover over the name or right click on it, it doesn’t open a Contact Card with more info.

Right clicking on the message in the message list doesn’t allow me to block it either.

How can I block this new type of spam?

Clean up mail before forwarding

Sometimes I receive emails which are "funny forwards" and I'd like to pass them on to others as well.

Sadly, most of the time the constant forwarding has really messed up the formatting and in my view it negatively affects the "fun factor" of it as well.

How can I efficiently clean up the email upon forwarding?

Split your message compose window

When I reply to a somewhat longer email, I find myself scrolling quite a lot between the original message at the bottom and then back up to where I left off writing my reply message.

While you could open the message in its own window and position and resize it in such a way that it sits nicely next to your compose screen so you can read them both, it is a somewhat cumbersome solution.

Did you know that you could split your message compose window directly from within Outlook?

Jump to contacts by typing first letter

I'm sorting my contacts in a list view (Phone List) instead of using the Business Cards view. With the Business Card view there is an alphabetic index on the right side which allows you to easily jump to contacts starting with that letter.

This index is not available in the Phone List view nor does typing the first letter of a name bring me to that contact (like it does in Explorer), instead it starts overwriting a selected name or adds a new contact.

Is there any method in making the index available in the Phone List view as well or make it jump through a contact by typing?
