Prevent Recurring Meetings or Appointments to be created without an End Date

Often times, I receive invitations for recurring meetings that have no end date set so they will go on forever in my Calendar. It’s actually not that surprising considering that “No end date” is the default selection.

I really would like the organizer to put more thought into this. Sometimes the original organizer has even left the company and we still have these recurring meetings left in our Calendars.

As this is such a problem for us, I actually have multiple related questions about this;

  • Can I change the default recurrence pattern for meetings and appointments that I create in Outlook? Currently it is always set to “No end date” and sometimes even forget to change it myself.
  • Is there anything I can do against this as a recipient of these invitations?
  • Is there anything our administrator can do to prevent these meetings from being send out?

Password protected pst-file prompts directly

I have a few personal folders/data files, and 1 of it is password-protected.

Back in Outlook 2003, I'm only prompted for the password if I actually accessed the folder. Now in 2007/2010, the pop-up comes up as soon as I start up Outlook.

How do I stop this from happening?

The message body appears to be from previous emails, show garbled or can't be downloaded at all. Attachments seem to be affected as well.

Why is this happening and how can I fix these messages?

Using AND operators in rules

Is there a way to create a rule that looks for certain words in the message body and only if it finds all these words in the message it will apply a certain action?

Right now, when using the "with specific words" condition it behaves like an OR operatator.

Show Sender’s Company Name in the Message List

For all my contacts (“clients” actually in my case), I’ve filled out the Company field on the Contact form. I’ve also made sure that the Company name is included in the contact’s Display Name.

My aim for this was that I could reveal the Company name directly in my message list so I could directly recognize which company the sender is from.

However, although I can add the Company field to my message list, the field remains blank. Also, my chosen display name for the contact seems to be ignored.

Why is this being ignored and more importantly; How can I achieve what I want?

Email attachments disappear when sent to others

Whenever I send an attachment through Outlook, the recipient receives the email without the attachment although they sometimes say that it got renamed to winmail.dat.

It happens to all attachments regardless of who I send it to and the format of the file (e.g. PDF, Word, jpg, etc). If I send the same attachment through web mail or from another computer, the attachment remains intact and is received in the email.

I've tried turning off my anti-virus program but that's not made any difference, so I'm assuming the issue must be within Outlook itself.
