Meeting invitation contains “not supported calendar message.ics” file and other attachments
Today I received a Meeting Invitation that was received as a normal message but contained the following attachments;
not supported calendar message.ics
ATT00001.htm
c120414.ics
The ATT00001.htm
attachment contained the same textual content as the meeting message, but trying to open either ics-file resulted in the error;
The operation failed.
How did this meeting invitation end up broken and how can I fix it so I can accept it and add it to my Calendar?
Add Holidays to your Microsoft 365 Exchange Online or Outlook.com mailbox
I’ve been looking for an option to add a Holiday Calendar to my Exchange mailbox in a similar way to the Birthday Calendar, which displays as a separate folder in Outlook. I haven't found out how to do it though.
Is there a way to add a separate Holiday Calendar to my Outlook Calendar as well?
Moving my pst-file to another location
How can I move the Outlook pst-file from its default location to another more convenient location?
Saving an Appointment or Meeting as ics-file by using Drag & Drop
When I drag and drop an Appointment or Meeting from my Calendar into a File Explorer window or another messages, this Calendar item is being saved as an msg-file.
While this might make sense for saving emails, I’d rather save my Calendar items as ics-files.
Can I somehow change the drag & drop format for Calendar items to ics-files?
Permanently delete from pst-file and Compact Now
I know that when I permanently delete something from Outlook (so also from the Deleted Items folder), it will still not be deleted directly and my pst-file won't become smaller unless I run Compact Now. Until then or until it gets overwritten, the data is still stored within the pst-file and thus recoverable as you described here.
I'd prefer the deleted items to be really gone and free up space directly. For this I now manually run Compact Now a couple of times per week.
Can I configure Outlook that it will always automatically compact the pst-file whenever I delete something?
Starting Outlook in Safe Mode
I'm having an issue with Outlook and one of the suggestions told me to start Outlook from the Run command with the /safe switch and check something. However, I'm in a corporate environment and the Run command has been disabled for us.
Is there an other way to troubleshoot Outlook or get into Safe Mode or should I call my IT department?
Watermark background (Confidential, Do not Forward, Draft, etc…)
I'd like to add a watermark to my message which says "confidential" as an extra visual reminder.
Does Outlook hold such an option?
