Adding personal Stationery
Classic Attach File button and Insert as Text option in Outlook 2016 / 2019 / 2021 / Microsoft 365
Opening the File Browser dialog to attach a file has now become a 2-click process in Outlook 2016 because of the Recent Items list and the option to also attach files from Web Locations like OneDrive.
Also, on occasion I used the “Insert as Text” option to insert boilerplate text from saved files instead of attaching the file itself. It seems that this option in gone now too.
Is there any way to get back the “Attach File” button that directly opened the File Browser and had the “Insert as Text” option?
Delivering Exchange emails to a pst-file in Outlook 2013 / 2016 / 2019 / Microsoft 365
In Outlook 2010 and previous I was able to set a pst-file as the default delivery location for my Exchange account.
In Outlook 2016, I no longer see the “Change Folder” button when I select my Exchange account.
How can I still deliver my Exchange e-mails directly to a pst-file?
Setting Skype, Skype for Business, Teams, Lync or Cisco Jabber as the default IM client for Outlook
I personally use Skype as my default IM client and that also integrated with Outlook at home. At work, we use Skype for Business and there Outlook integrates with Skype for Business.
I recently upgraded my home computer to Office 2016 via our company’s Office 365 licensing and now Skype no longer integrates with Outlook 2016. When I log on with Skype for Business at home, I found out that it now integrates with Outlook instead.
Do I need the Home or Personal edition of Office 2016 for integration with Skype or can I somehow set which IM client should integrate with Outlook?
Insert Outlook Contact details into Word without Mail Merge
I'm typing a letter in Word and I would like to insert contact information to it (sender and recipient information). I've got all the contact details in Outlook but it looks like I'm only able to insert it via a Mail Merge which seems overkill for me.
Is there a quick way to add Outlook contact details to a Word document?

Don’t send attachments to CC and BCC recipients
I've been working in a team on a project and now am ready to submit it by email with quite a few attachments.
I want to keep all the team members in the loop, but they obviously don't need all the attachments as they already have it.
Is there any way to send out this email to everyone but only have the people in the To field receive the attachments but not the ones in CC and BCC?
Don’t repair ost-files with scanpst.exe
I encountered some issues with my ost-file and so I scanned it for errors with scanpst.exe
. It found some issues but scanpst.exe was unable to fix it as the issues still existed when I rescanned it after the repair.
- Didn't there used to be a
scanost.exe
as well? - How can I fix my ost-file without needing to spend lots of money on a 3rd party recovery application?
Can I find out when I read a message in Outlook?
I know I can request a Read Receipt to find out when someone read a message that I sent. However, I'd like to know when I read a message that someone else has sent to me.
For instance, this would be especially useful to me for informational messages which did not require me to reply but are important enough to know when I’ve actually read it.
Is this information registered somewhere in Outlook or in a log file?
