Recommended pst-/ost-file size vs. Maximum technical size

I heard that pst-files can grow as large as 50GB in size but also heard that issues will occur when it grows beyond 2GB.

My guess is that the difference is a technical limit versus a recommended limit.

Currently, my pst-file is reaching the 2GB and I wonder what I should do. Obviously, I do not want to run into issues but I prefer to keep my mailbox in a single pst-file rather than to create many little ones.

Which maximum pst-file size would you recommend?

Combine or nest multiple Contact Groups into one

I’ve created several Contact Groups in Outlook (known as Distribution Lists in previous versions of Outlook) which I use for mailings.

Due to some restructuring and increase of my sending limit, I now like to combine some of these groups into 1 group. As they hold quite a few Contacts, I don’t really feel like adding them manually or recreate the group entirely.

Is there any way I can quickly combine multiple Contact Groups into one?

Delivering Exchange emails to a pst-file in Outlook 2013 / 2016 / 2019 / Microsoft 365

In Outlook 2010 and previous I was able to set a pst-file as the default delivery location for my Exchange account.

In Outlook 2016, I no longer see the “Change Folder” button when I select my Exchange account.

How can I still deliver my Exchange e-mails directly to a pst-file?

Outlook Social Connector Update interval

I really like the Outlook Social Connector and I use it in conjunction with your Social Media Updates Search Folder tip to quickly see what my contacts have been up to lately.

However, I noticed that this info isn't always fully up-to-date.

How often does the Outlook Social Connector check for new updates and is there a way to change this interval or force an update similar to pressing Send/Receive to check for new emails?

Internet Explorer 11 only loads OWA Light

I've just installed Windows 8.1 which includes Internet Explorer 11. Apparently, I'm now a bit too up-to-date for my company, which is still running Exchange 2007.

When I go to the OWA website, I'm only being offered the OWA Light version and no longer the full feature Premium version; The option to use OWA Light is selected and cannot be disabled.

Can I still access the Premium version somehow or does this require my company to install an Exchange update or even upgrade to a newer version?

Quick Commands Bar to Delete, Reply, Move etc… on the right side of a message

I just upgraded to Outlook as part of Microsoft 365 and I seem to be missing something that I really liked in my previous version of Outlook.

I had this vertical list of “Quick Commands” on the right side of the Reading Pane which allowed me to Delete, Reply to or Move a message and various other things.

This was very useful to me as I have the Ribbon minimized as it takes up too much of my vertical viewing space. I could add them to the Quick Access Toolbar but I’d rather have them on the right, next to the message.

Is there any way to get this vertical bar with Quick Commands back?

Creating clickable buttons in emails

I am creating an introductory email with various links to resources. To make the links strike a bit more and give the introductory email a bit of an interactive look, I'd like to insert these links as clickable buttons.

How would I turn these hyperlinks into buttons?

Why do some emails arrive in a folder called Clutter?

As of recently, some of my emails are going into a folder called Clutter rather than into my Inbox folder.

I'm trying to find out why as I don't have any rules configured to do this and I really want to receive them in my Inbox folder again.

How can I turn this off or configure it otherwise?

Editing replies in-line adds spaces

When I am replying to a message, and trying to edit text that's part of the original message, Outlook gives me extra spaces around the letters.

Is there any way to prevent this?
