Combine or nest multiple Contact Groups into one

Combine or nest multiple Contact Groups into one

I’ve created several Contact Groups in Outlook (known as Distribution Lists in previous versions of Outlook) which I use for mailings.

Due to some restructuring and increase of my sending limit, I now like to combine some of these groups into 1 group. As they hold quite a few Contacts, I don’t really feel like adding them manually or recreate the group entirely.

Is there any way I can quickly combine multiple Contact Groups into one?

Delayed or no New Mail Notifications for Outlook 2013 on Windows 8

I’m using Outlook 2013 on Windows 8 and lately I’ve begun to notice that I don’t get any New Mail Notifications or that I get a notification long after I’ve already noticed that I received a message.

The emails are delivered to my Inbox and as far as I can tell, I have all the New Mail Notification options enabled in Outlook.

How can I get the Notifications as soon as new emails are being received?

Limits to synching Outlook Contact information with Outlook.com

I have lots of contacts in Outlook and I’m switching to an Outlook.com account.

I’ve noticed that many of the advanced contact information fields that are available in Outlook are not available in the People section of an Outlook.com account.

For a couple of contacts, I’ve filled out these fields.

What will happen with the information in these fields when I move the contacts to Outlook.com?

Recommended pst-/ost-file size vs. Maximum technical size

Recommended pst-/ost-file size vs. Maximum technical size

I heard that pst-files can grow as large as 50GB in size but also heard that issues will occur when it grows beyond 2GB.

My guess is that the difference is a technical limit versus a recommended limit.

Currently, my pst-file is reaching the 2GB and I wonder what I should do. Obviously, I do not want to run into issues but I prefer to keep my mailbox in a single pst-file rather than to create many little ones.

Which maximum pst-file size would you recommend?

Outlook 2003: Sent messages are being received incomplete

Outlook 2003: Sent messages are being received incomplete

Over the last couple of weeks, people are complaining to me that the messages I have sent to them are incomplete. Upon checking my Sent Items folder, the content is indeed truncated when sent.

The cut off looks random to me; It’s not like it is being cut off after a specific word count. However, it does look like the shorter messages do arrive completely.

What is causing this and how can I make sure this won’t happen again?

Import large amounts of eml-files into Outlook

Import large amounts of eml-files into Outlook

Upon cleaning up my hard disk, I came across a lot of eml-files.

Some of them are messages I saved directly while others are exports from email applications that I used over the years like Outlook Express, Thunderbird and even Lotus Notes.

I noticed that recent versions of Outlook can now also directly open eml-files but I actually want to store them within Outlook so all my entire email archive is kept together.

How can I import all these eml-files into Outlook?

Determine the folder path of a message found in Search results

Determine the folder path of a message found in Search results

I frequently do a mailbox wide search in Outlook and luckily I also usually find what I’m looking for.

Sometimes, it is also important to me to find out where exactly that email is located in Outlook. The search results list doesn’t tell me that but it is important to me that I know it is in the correct folder.

Is there any way to determine the exact folder path of a message?

Cleaned up contacts via Outlook.com are still there in Outlook

Cleaned up contacts via Outlook.com are still there in Outlook

I have an Outlook.com account and on the Outlook.com website, I’ve used the “Clean up contacts” feature in the People section to get rid of my duplicate contacts.

This worked great as I now no longer have any duplicates in Outlook.com. However, in Outlook itself, I still see my duplicates.

I’ve already pressed the Send/Receive button and restarted Outlook for good measure to make sure everything synced up but the duplicates are still there.

Why are my duplicate contacts still there in Outlook and more importantly;
How do I get rid of these duplicates in Outlook itself?
