I’m inspecting my disk about what I should include in my backup and came across the RoamCache folder in a folder where Outlook stores various other files as well.
Inside it, there are a lot of “Stream” files like Stream_Autocomplete_*
, Stream_Calendar_*
and Stream_CategoryList_*
What exactly is being stored in these files and should I include this folder in my backups?
If so, can I also restore it on another computer?

When I look at the message list in Outlook 2013, I’ve got the feeling that things aren’t as “sharp” as they should be.
It looks like the name of the sender and subject of the message isn’t really black. The characters in the emails itself look a little bit darker and clearer to me.
Is this just me needing glasses or there another option to make the characters sharper in the message list?

I've been granted access to a shared mailbox on our Exchange sever. For this, I've been given the name and email address of the mailbox but I didn't get a password for it.
When I try to add the account, Outlook already resolves my current name and email address. While I can change this, it then also asks for the password which I don’t have.
How am I supposed to access this mailbox?

It looks like the recent updates for Outlook completely broke my IMAP account in Outlook 2013.
For instance, the Inbox folder stays empty with the message “We didn't find anything to show here”. I also don’t receive any new emails.
In other folders, some e-mails can’t be moved or deleted or changes I make in Outlook do not sync to the server. Sometimes my move action is followed with the error:
"Cannot copy the items. You don't have permission to create an entry in this folder. Right-click the folder, and then click Properties to check your permissions for the folder. See the folder owner or your administrator to change your permissions. "
It seems that IMAP in Outlook 2013 is only getting worse, when will it get better and how do I fix my current issues?

The somewhat huge message header in Outlook 2013 has been an eyesore and annoyance to some since the release of Outlook 2013, especially for people who prefer to have the Reading Pane at the bottom.
The November update not only brought back some highly missed To-Do Bar functionality but also quite some major changes and options to the message header.
Did you find the minimize option for the message header already?

In a previous tip, you explained how to create NOT rules. What I’m still missing is how to create a “Do not Download it from the Server” rule.
This was possible when I used Outlook Express and then Windows Live Mail but I can’t find it in Outlook.
I need this rule because I share a POP3 account with different people who all have their own email address. We then used the following rule to get just our own emails:
Where the To or CC line does not contain <my email address>
Do not Download it from the server.
How do I set up this rule in Outlook?

Every now and then I come across people who still very much like Outlook Today or get contacted by people who tell me that Outlook Today is broken for them.
Officially, the Outlook Today feature has the "deprecated" status so it could be gone in a future version of Outlook. Over the years, the functionality of Outlook Today has been moved to other parts of Outlook.
Are you ready to abandon Outlook Today?

In Outlook, the time and date format can be controlled via Regional Settings in Control Panel. This allows me to change the time format from AM/PM to a 24 hour clock.
However, this settings doesn't seem to apply to Outlook Web App as my emails and Calendar are still shown in the AM/PM notation.
How do I set OWA to use a 24 hour clock as well?

When I open a pdf-attachment from Outlook via a double click, it opens full screen and I don’t seem to have any options at all.
This used to open an application with lots of options and not in full screen so that I could multitask and easily copy-paste from it and there also was a printing option.
How can I get all these options back and stop it from opening pdf-files in full screen?

Recently, some emails that I receive are directly delivered to the Deleted Items folder instead of being delivered to the Inbox.
I also fear that some messages are even permanently deleted without me knowing.
Why does this happen and how can I get everything delivered to my Inbox again?
