Change default program for opening attachments

Change default program for opening attachments

When I double click on a Word attachment, Outlook tries to open it with “Windows Photo Viewer” which obviously fails.

Similarly, when I double click on a pdf-file, it tries to open it with Adobe Photoshop. Eventually, this will work for most pdf-files but loading Photoshop takes a while and only allows me to view a single page at once. As I want to read and not edit the pdf-file, I’d much rather open it with Adobe Reader instead.

How can I tell Outlook which program to open the attachment with?

Convert from an IMAP account to POP3

Convert from an IMAP account to POP3

After reinstalling my computer and reconfiguring Outlook, my account got configured automatically as an IMAP account.

I've tried this for a while, but due to some features not being available for IMAP accounts and my small on-line mailbox, I'd much rather have it configured as a POP3 account again.

How can I convert my account from IMAP back to POP3?

Finding back Recovered Deleted Items

Finding back Recovered Deleted Items

I’ve recently deleted a couple of emails too many but as I’m using an Exchange account, I should be able to recover them via the Recover Deleted Items feature.

However, due to the amount of spam, the Social Connector and a plethora of other messages I’ve deleted it is almost impossible to find back the messages that I want to restore.

Is there a more convenient way to find back my deleted items?
Also, once recovered, which folder does it go to?

Reveal full original message source with header

Reveal full original message source with header

To troubleshoot some sending and receiving issues, I'd like to see the original message source as a whole as it is received. Right now, I can only see the Internet Message Header and the source code of HTML messages but not the entire (MultiPart) message.

For further analyzing, is there any way to reveal to the original message source as it was received by Outlook rather then the cut of header and interpreted body?

Restoring a pst-file of a POP3 account on a new computer

Restoring a pst-file of a POP3 account on a new computer

I've backed up my pst-file of my POP3 account from my old computer and now want to use it on my new computer.

I've been told not to use the Import feature to restore my pst-file but to reuse it when setting up my account in Outlook. That way I should be able to keep my rules, view settings and various other personalization settings.

That sounds great and I would prefer not to lose too many of my settings but how exactly do I need to restore my POP3 pst-file to keep all these things?

Can’t save ics, vcs or vcf–files to a network share

Can’t save ics, vcs or vcf–files to a network share

I’m trying to save an appointment as an ics-file but it doesn’t seem to be working.

When choosing the Save As function, I’m able to browse to where I want to save it, name it and even press Save. However, when I then go to that location, the saved ics-file isn’t there.

I repeated the operation to make sure I did try to save it in that location, but again nothing showed up. I didn’t even get an error. I tried it with a different appointment and I got the same results.

Why can’t I save my appointments as an ics-file?
