QAT and Ribbon settings not saved upon logoff

We're in a network where not everybody has their own working space with a computer but simply uses a spot that is available. Upon logging in, all my settings are there and Outlook works as is should. However, I noticed that my customizations to my Quick Access Toolbar (QAT) aren't there.

I can reconfigure it and when I return to a computer which I've already used, they are there as well so I guess they are only stored on the local machine.

I can backup and restore my QAT settings manually each time but isn't there an easier way similar like the rest of my Outlook configuration "travels" with me?

Link instead of attachment?

I've updated a file on our network and I want to send it to my colleague for review. Since we can both access the networkshare I want to send it as a link but Outlook blocks shortcuts (lnk-files).

Do I really have to send the file now instead?

Email scanned document directly as an attachment

A follow up question came in based on yesterday’s tip for directly inserting scanned images into a message;

Is it also possible to attach these scanned images as files instead of inserting them into the message body?

When scanning in a document such as a signed contract, it doesn't make sense to insert them into the message body.

I have multiple accounts configured and they are all showing New Mail Desktop Alerts when new email comes in.

As one account mainly receives newsletters and spam, I’d like to turn off these alerts for this specific account.

Color code folders in Search results

I frequently search through my entire mailbox rather than just a single folder as I store my mails in multiple folders and also want to include the Sent Items folder.

However, this makes the Search results a bit cluttered as obviously there is no folder structure anymore.

Is there a way to color code the results based on the folder?
For instance, results from the Inbox will stay black, Sent Items will be blue and Deleted Items will be red.

Send button inactive for attached Draft messages

A colleague has sent me some draft emails as attachments to a message. When I open the attachments to revise the emails before sending, the send button is unavailable as it is greyed out.

How can I send these drafts without needing to copy them into a new message?

Searching mail faster with keyboard shortcuts

I’ve been trying to use my mouse less for common computer tasks. With a little practice and the right keyboard shortcuts, this often ends up to be much quicker than using my mouse as well.

As I search through my emails on a regular basis, I was wondering whether there are any useful search shortcuts in Outlook?

Need Password but no login screen shown in Outlook

One of my accounts in Outlook went from “Trying to connect” to “Need Password” in the Status Bar.

However, pressing on the “Need Password” icon doesn’t bring up the dialog to enter my username and password. The dialog isn’t hidden behind Outlook either, although sometimes it looks like it opens and closes really fast again.

No dialog comes up either when clicking on the "Type Exchange Password & Connect" button nor when the Notification comes up that Outlook needs your password.

How do I get myself in a Connected state again?
