noname.eml attachments for Gmail or other web based mail clients

I sometimes forward messages which I’ve received or a sent as attachments to someone else.

Instead of receiving the attachments that I sent them, they receive them as noname.eml attachments which they cannot open. When they click on it, they only see gibberish.

This doesn’t happen for everyone but mainly for people who are using Gmail, Outlook.com/Hotmail or another web mail account rather than using Outlook.

How can I make sure that they receive the email attachments as it should and that they can read it?

IMAP and always download full items

I configured my account as an IMAP account and noticed that it will only download the message when I actually click on the message. This is actually quite annoying when I'm not connected to the Internet at that time.

How can I configure it so that it will directly download the message in full without clicking on it first?

Don’t download Junk Email

My ISP provides Junk Email protection and it actually does a good job at this and marks all junk messages with ***SPAM***.

Is there any way I can tell Outlook not to download these mails?

Sorting contacts by Company; (none) listed twice

Since recently, I’ve switched the view of my Contacts folder to the Phone List view and arranged that view to group the contacts by Company name.

This works great for the contacts for which I’ve defined a company name. However, the contacts for which I haven’t defined a company name are separated in two groups which are both called “Company: (none)”.

Why is this happening and how can I get all these contacts listed in a single “none” group?

Search and Replace for Contact fields

I have lots of contacts in Outlook and I am looking for a way to update some contact fields so they will be more consistent. For instance, I’m looking to update the following properties;

  • For some contacts I’ve entered “AVE” and for other “Avenue”. I want this to be “Avenue” for everyone.
  • For some contacts I’ve included the country code in their phone number and I’d like to remove that.
  • Change the email address domain of several contacts as their company changed its name and has a new domain name.

How can I achieve these changes without modifying all contacts one-by-one?

Unified Inbox folder for recent unread mail items

I'm using Outlook with multiple accounts configured. This is a mix of Exchange, POP3, IMAP and Outlook.com accounts so they each have their own Inbox folder.

This sometimes makes it hard to keep track of all the latest (unread) messages as it requires me to visit each Inbox and sometimes sub folders as well.

Is there any way to create a special view or Search Folder which combines all these Inboxes into a single list of (unread) emails?

Search Indexer add-in disabled (mssphtb.dll)

I'm having some issues with the search function in Outlook and I think it is because the Windows Search Email Indexer is disabled.

I tried to enable it but Outlook disables it every time.

Why can't I enable this add-in and how do I get Search to function again?

Do not display “Top Results” when searching

When searching in Outlook, I see a group of “Top Results” before showing all other emails relevant to my search query.

I find this confusing since some of these emails are quite old and are now shown at the top and no longer chronologically.

Is there any way to disable these Top Results?

Change default program for opening attachments

When I double click on a Word attachment, Outlook tries to open it with “Windows Photo Viewer” which obviously fails.

Similarly, when I double click on a pdf-file, it tries to open it with Adobe Photoshop. Eventually, this will work for most pdf-files but loading Photoshop takes a while and only allows me to view a single page at once. As I want to read and not edit the pdf-file, I’d much rather open it with Adobe Reader instead.

How can I tell Outlook which program to open the attachment with?
