Moving or making Automatic Replies (OOF) stand out more

With the holidays going on, and the fact that you only receive the Automatic Replies (Out of Office) notices once, I’d like to keep track of who is away when.

As most people tend to write their substitute or an emergency number in the Automatic Reply message as well, I thought storing them into a separate folder (or having them stand out more so I don’t forget to move them) would be a good approach. I can then simply search within that folder

How would I move or color code these Automatic Replies without risking to also move or color code other messages?

Can’t save ics, vcs or vcf–files to a network share

I’m trying to save an appointment as an ics-file but it doesn’t seem to be working.

When choosing the Save As function, I’m able to browse to where I want to save it, name it and even press Save. However, when I then go to that location, the saved ics-file isn’t there.

I repeated the operation to make sure I did try to save it in that location, but again nothing showed up. I didn’t even get an error. I tried it with a different appointment and I got the same results.

Why can’t I save my appointments as an ics-file?

Delete Junk Email from mail server too when deleted in Outlook

I'm looking for a way to delete a mail from the web mail client when I delete the message in Outlook. This mainly applies to Junk Email.

It's because I don't want to have a messy mailbox when I have to use the web mail client. Right now, when I delete an email in Outlook, the original one still remains in my inbox on the web server, so after a couple of months I have a real mess in my inbox.

Is there any way to also delete these messages from the server from within Outlook?

Decrypt S/MIME encrypted emails and save them unencrypted

We receive S/MIME encrypted emails which we need to store in a financial or HR database system that is encrypted and protected otherwise itself as well.

As we save the original message, they remain encrypted and can only be opened by the original recipient that has the S/MIME certificate.

Trying to open these messages from the application gives the error;

Your Digital ID name cannot be found by the underlying security system.

Is there a way to remove the S/MIME encryption from a message and save it unencrypted?

Import multiple contacts from a vCard file (vcf-file)

I’ve got a vCard containing my contacts which I created by exporting my contacts from another application (Lotus Notes). However, Outlook seems to only support importing the first contacts from that file.

I then split this multi-contact vCard file into separate vcf-files, one for each contact, which all reside in a single folder. However, Outlook seems to only support importing 1 vCard at a time.

Is there any way I can import all these vcf-files at once or import this single multi-contact vCard in Outlook?

What is lost by exporting/importing pst-files?

Looking at backup and restore procedures for Outlook, some instruct to use the Import/Export wizard in Outlook. Others recommend to use the original pst-file and warn that I could lose data otherwise.

What's the difference between an Import and using the old PST directly? What's lost or gained by using either method?

Inbox Repair Tool and Outlook 2010 Click-to-Run

I'm trying to locate the Inbox Repair Tool (scanpst.exe) for Outlook 2010 but when I look in the correct location, I don't see it there.

In fact, I only see a couple of files listed in the Office14 folder and even OUTLOOK.EXE isn't listed there.

Why isn't SCANPST.EXE or even OUTLOOK.EXE found on my computer?
Or even more important; How am I supposed to repair my pst-file now?

Discuss with Team instead of Reply to All

On occasion, I receive emails which have been addressed to multiple people which contain actionable items for our team which need to be discussed internally first.

Currently, I usually press Reply All and remove the addresses of the original sender and other recipients who don’t belong to our team. Sometimes, re-addressing the email entirely is quicker. Either way, it is cumbersome and quite error prone.

Can I somehow add a “Discuss with Team” button to the Respond section as well?
