Import/Export message rules

I have quite a few rules configured which I'd hate to lose.

Can I make a backup of just my rules just in case something happens to them or when moving to another computer?

Keyboard responds slow

Suddenly I experience a long delay between pressing a key and the display on screen. This only occurs in Outlook 2003. All other Office programs and Internet forms work fine. I changed from HTML to Rich Text and it still slows down. Then it works perfect for a while then starts slowing down again. The only way I can use it consistently is to make Word my text editor, which I do not want.

I have defragged, cleaned my hard drive, cleared history and cache, and rebooted several times, but the problem persists. Any ideas? I have used this since the release of Office 2003 with no problem.

Propose New Time missing from Meeting Request

I was just sent an invite to a recurring meeting. I want to propose a new time, but only Accept, Tentative, Decline and another button shows to respond.

I then added the Propose New Time icon to the Quick Access Toolbar, but it is greyed out.

Why can't I propose a new time?

Quick Steps and HTML formatted message templates (fonts, tables, images etc)

I really like the ability to instantly reply with a message template via Quick Steps.

This works for most of my replies but for one type of reply I need to have rich text formatting support with additional font settings, an image and also a table.

I’ve tried copy/pasting the content from the source document and even put in HTML codes within the Text area of the Quick Step but it seems that this field is Plain Text only.

Is there any way to make this work with a Quick Step or another quick alternative?

Excel: Remove all Mailto hyperlinks for email addresses at once

In a previous tip you explained how to prevent email address in Excel turning into clickable mailto hyperlinks which is close to an issue I’m currently facing.

In my current case, I’ve received an Excel sheet full of email addresses that are clickable mailto links which is highly annoying as sooner or later I’ll accidentally click on one.

Is there any way to bulk remove or disable these clickable email addresses and turn them into regular text instead?

Using the Full Name field of a Contact in a Mail Merge

I’m doing a Mail Merge within Word with Outlook’s Contacts data as the source.

Within my template, I’m trying to insert the “Full Name” as it is displayed in the Contact form in Outlook, but I can’t seem to find that as a selectable field for the Mail Merge in Word.

I can use the “First” and “Last” field to construct it but this is a bit cumbersome and complicated when I need to account for names with surname prefixes like “Dick van Dyke” for which I’ve stored “Dyke” in the Last field and “van” in the “Middle” field.

Isn’t there a direct way to use the “Full Name” field in a Mail Merge like it is available in Outlook?

Use RE: and FW: instead of localized subject prefix

We are an international company with international clients but in various countries we offer localized versions of Office and Outlook to our employees.

A downside of this is that when replying or forwarding, Outlook also adds localized prefixes to the subjects such as "AW" and "WG" (for the German version) which causes confusion with the recipient as they may not be German themselves.

Is there a way to force Outlook to always use the more standard English "RE" and FW" prefixes?

Scan to email doesn’t add signature

My scanner comes with an application that can directly scan to email. However, when I do that, my signature does not show up in the newly created message.

If I scan it to disk first and then use the right click option "Send to-> Mail Recipient" then the same thing happens.

How can I scan to email without losing my signature?
