Prevent sending messages that are too large

Sometimes I add attachments which are too large to send and the message will hang in my Outbox.

I know my ISP has a limit of 20MB but I sometimes get too excited with adding large pictures or other stuff.

Is there any way I can work around this so that I don't get any Send/Receive errors and have to pry them out of the Outbox?

CTRL+Ins to copy

In Outlook 2003 both CTRL+C and CTRL+Ins could be used as “Copy” shortcut keys. Now in Outlook 2007 only the CTRL+C works.

How can I get the CTRL+Ins to work as well?

Always show the received day name of a message in the Message List

When looking at the received dates of the messages in the Message List, I see the first messages have a day and date specified. When I scroll further down my list of messages, only a date is shown.

How can I set Outlook to always display the name of the day that the message was received on in the Message List?

RSS view

When looking at an RSS Feed, I see the author or the feed's name in bold all the time. I find the subject more important and there is no need to see the same feed name in the feed's folder over and over again.

How can I modify this?

This is another one of my favorite "hidden" features in Outlook;

Junk E-mail Filter broken with blocked icon?

I guess my Junk E-mail folder is broken; the icon of the folder holds a "blocked" symbol (red circle with a diagonal line through it) so it looks like it is disabled somehow.

Why did this happen and how can I enable it again?

Quickly collapse all opened subfolders

I sort many of my messages into folders and subfolders by using rules. While I do use a Search Folder to keep track of all the new messages, the new messages still expand the folder list which is fairly large.

The result is that the Navigation Pane looks quite cluttered and it pushes my other mailboxes down and out of view and I need to scroll down to see them.

Is there a way to prevent these subfolders from being opened or to quickly collapse them all at once?

Sorting mail by contacts

I'm keeping my emails sorted by contacts where each contact has its own dedicated folder so I later can quickly find back any conversation with that person.

Your "Today’s Unread Mail folder" tip helped me a lot to easily find back any new items.

I still like my sorting method but it's really hard to find back any rules (sometimes my contacts change address) as I really have over a hundred of them now. Also, I feel that Outlook gets slower with each rule that I add. I also tried to mimic my sorting method at work but then I hit the rules limit quite quickly.

Is there any way to overcome these issues without me changing my sorting method?

Hide details of all or some appointments and meetings

When co-workers plan a meeting and are looking at free/busy times via the Schedule Assistant, they can see the details of any appointment and meeting if they hover the mouse pointer over the item.

Is there a way to block that?
