Sync and backup POP3 accounts via Outlook.com

I have a POP3 account configured on my main computer and on my laptop. I noticed that it does not keep track of my read/unread status and other things such as Sent Items and other folder that I have. It also does not support bringing over the contacts and appointments.

Migrating Outlook pst-data to Outlook.com

I’m currently using Outlook with a POP3 account but I’d like to switch over to an Outlook.com account.

I’ve set Outlook.com to download all the new mail for my old POP3 account (actually, I’ve set my old account to forward to Outlook.com as this appears to be faster) and configured my Outlook.com account in Outlook. This all works great and as expected.

How do I migrate all the mails which I had already downloaded via POP3 into an Outlook pst-file to my Outlook.com mailbox?

Keyboard shortcuts for Outlook on the Web, OWA and Outlook.com

Sometimes I use the web based version of Outlook and often forget that it isn’t the Desktop version but was pleasantly surprised that some of the keyboard shortcuts still work.

Is there a list of available keyboard shortcuts for Outlook on the Web?

Quickly delete old Newsletters and RSS feed items

I’m one of many that doesn’t delete any of the emails that I send or receive. I really like that history but I decided that I really should not hoard all the old Newsletters and RSS feed items that I receive as well.

I’m somewhat organized and I’ve stored most of my Newsletters and RSS Feeds in various folders.

Is there any way to quickly get rid of all the items which are from last year and older?

Switch from Gmail to Outlook.com

For a while now, I’ve been thinking about switching from Gmail to Outlook.com as there are so many features in Outlook which Gmail can’t support because it is using IMAP.

For instance, synching my Contacts and Calendar folders, synching my message rules, using Categories and Follow Up Reminders, Skype Contacts integration and so much more.

I’ve been quite reluctant to actually switch as nowadays so much depends on and is connected to your email address, it feels like I’m tied for life to use Gmail.

How can I switch from Gmail to Outlook.com as painless as possible?
