Changing the sort order of the To-Do Bar sections
I’ve re-enabled the To-Do Bar in Outlook 2016 but the display order of the various sections is different from how it was in Outlook 2010.
My current order is:
- Tasks
- Contacts
- Calendar
Is there any way to get the Calendar at the top again and Tasks at the bottom?
When you are using Outlook 2013 or Outlook 2016, it is actually quite easy to change the order of the To-Bar sections as the sorting order depends on the order in which you’ve added them.
Once added however, changing the order is indeed not directly obvious.
To get them in your preferred order, do the following:
- tab View-> To-Do Bar-> Off
- tab View-> To-Do Bar-> Calendar
- tab View-> To-Do Bar-> People
- tab View-> To-Do Bar-> Tasks
To-Do Bar Settings are saved per Navigation module
Note that your To-Do Bar settings are stored per Navigation module. This means that you can have different To-Bar settings for your Mail, Calendar and Contact folders.
This allows you for instance to have the following configuration:
- Calendar, People and Tasks enabled in the Mail module (CTRL+1).
- A full length Task list in the Calendar module (CTRL+2).
This can be an alternative to having only a small Daily Task List at the bottom and optimize your vertical viewing space within the Calendar. To disable the Task List at the bottom, in a calendar folder choose:
tab View-> Daily Task List-> Off - No To-Do Bar at all in the People module (CTRL+3).
Note: Changing the sorting order of the To-Bar elements or having different To-Do Bar configurations per Navigation module is not possible in Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010. Only having the To-Bar enabled or disabled for a specific Navigation module is being stored.
